Annual Workshop 2023: Examining Microaggressions and Building Cultural Empathy through the Historical Lens of the African American Experience

This workshop will focus on the experience of African Americans and marginalized groups, examining microaggressions (verbal, behavioral, and environmental) which target people identified by race, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. The workshop explores cultural empathy, examining slavery, historical trauma, and today’s racial tensions. We will examine poetry’s contribution to understanding people of diverse backgrounds. Held at the Hotel Deluxe.
