Over the past 25 years, Motivational Interviewing has become widely used in substance abuse treatment, corrections, psychotherapy and for a variety of behavioral and mental health issues. Brief Motivational Interventions (BMI) is a structured and focused application of motivational interviewing in a format that can vary from an opportunistic few minutes to a highly structured brief therapy of several sessions duration.
