September 20 Tacoma. September 27 Portland/Vancouver. October 18 Spokane. It is vital that all health care professionals comply with the new rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) outlined in January 2013. The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) within the Department of Health & Human Services is prosecuting violations of HIPAA no matter the size of the provider, even very small entities. Previously, OCR focused on large entities, like hospitals. That has changed. See website for more information.
