This seminar will describe the most commonly used drugs of abuse as well as the current models that explain addiction from a biological and psychosocial standpoint. It will also cover the new DSM 5 definitions, and the most relevant substance-induced mental health disorders caused by different drug groups. The presentation will address substance use disorders’ clinical management including a novel interpersonal approach to the psychotherapeutic aspects of the clinical management of addictions.
