Working with Clients who are Living with Domestic Violence

This course will teach you how to assess for domestic violence and the level of violence. It will dispel the myths about domestic violence and help you notice the clues of power and control that are the defining characteristics of dv. We will review the power and control wheel, the cycle of violence and the progression of violence. We will go over how to respond if a dv couple shows up in your office and how to work with individual clients as they face their situation and make a plan to leave. Course includes safety planning for both the client and for yourself.
